Thank you for the opportunity to judge the 2011 Potomac Cairn Terrier Rodeo Round Up Sweepstakes.

There was a very nice entry of 10 Dogs, 15 Bitches and 3 Veterans.

I thought that the puppies were presented very well. They had nice coats, good muscle tone, decent bone structure. Side movement and top lines were good. There were a few wider fronts and a few close in the rear. Bites looked good, teeth appeared large and strong. A few pups did not want to open their mouths but that is how puppies are some times!
All in all, I thought that the entry showed many promising puppies.

My choice for Best Junior and Best In Sweepstakes was

Danmar's Purple Sage

This lovely wheaten bitch caught my eye immediately. She is a nicely balanced, medium size, bitch who moved well with determination and purpose. She was nice coming and going, her structure is solid, she has good bone a nice chest with a definite sternum. A beautiful expression and beautiful coat.

My choice for Best Puppy was

Kyleakin American Honey

This medium size bitch is nicely balanced, moves well, has good bone and definite sternum. She exhibits a nice expression, and shows great promise.

My Best Veteran In Sweepstakes went to

CH. Nightfalls Heaven Sent

This lovely lady moved around the ring with spring in her step!

Judging the Veteran's classes was not an easy task, they were all very sound movers, with good top lines and coats.

Kudos! to Pam Davis for stewarding at the Cairn Terrier Round Up! Pam's expertise and lovely smile helped keep the Cairn Rodeo Round Up organized and running smoothly throughout the day!! Thank you Pam!

Again, I thank the membership for having me judge and I thank the exhibitors for sharing their puppies with me at the 2011 Sweepstakes, I really enjoyed the day.

This year’s PCTC Specialty was a terrific success which is due to the participation of our members and Cairn friends who came from many different states. The Sheraton Baltimore North Hotel could not have been more inviting, or their staff more helpful. The drive from the hotel to the Fairgrounds was quick and easy. The hotel rooms were great and the Hospitality suite was fabulous!! Our dinner was nicely supported with around 48 people attending. Our regular class judge, Richard Powell, came and gave a brief critique of the day’s judging. The auction was great fun with wonderful items selected by Lydia Hutchinson. Ken Kauffman donated a beautiful framed sketched drawing of a Cairn cowboy for the auction. Our auctioneer, Dwight Hutchinson, delighted all with his lively descriptions of each item. All in all, we had a great weekend which included connecting with old friends and the fun of showing our dogs. The Specialty showcased outstanding Cairns that were exhibited beautifully. As show chairperson, I am extremely grateful for all the help our PCTC members gave to put together all the facets of this annual PCTC event. I would like to personally thank each of them; Hospitality, Cindy Rivers and Ann Gates; Dinner, Sas Argentine; Dinner decorations, Beth Wilder-Wilson; Auction, Lydia and Dwight Hutchinson; Specialty trophies; Molly Wilder; Old Dominion trophies, Diane Ondo; Show ring decorations, Sherrye Schenk; ring steward; Pam Davis; Breakfast and lunch coordinator and their staff; John & Lois Cleland, Veronica Hudak-Moe; Ways & Means, Jackie Sowards; Catalog Ads, Lynda Hammel; raffle sales, Bitsy Armstrong.
